What is this tutorial for?
There are some special requirements for industrial warehouse including large open area, adequate free height and quick construction. This type of structure is usually made with steel member either hot rolled or build up section. Portal frame is used to design this structure. In my video tutorial I have shown a complete Steel Warehouse structural analysis and design using Staad pro software. In this project I have used build up section to design but you can also use hot rolled section, I have shown how inside the video how to use hot rolled section?
Why Staad pro software has been used?
Staad pro is great structure analysis and design software across the world. Most Engineers use this for steel structure analysis and design. You can do any type of steel structure design including multistorey and complex structure, sloped roof etc. So many codes are available and they are easy to use. By watching my tutorial you will be able to use this software. Personally I use this software for steel structure design, but can be used for concrete structure design too. Any type of concrete structure can be designed using this software.
What is the code used for this project?
Design code is important for any type of structure design. As per your design code the loading is varied. Here for this project UBC design code has been used which is similar to my local code. Any tutorial is a procedure, following the procedure you can apply any code per your requirement. For this type of project wind load is important and need to calculate manually. I use MS Excel program to calculate wind load. You have to learn your own about how to calculate wind load as per your code requirement. I have also attached the excel wind load calculation file in the video description. You can collect from there and study that.
Who need to learn this software?
Usually any Civil Engineer across the world can learn this. But especially who wants to be structural engineer must need to learn. Structural Engineer can learn any other software for structural design, but if he has any interest on Staad pro then watch the video. Staad pro is one of the mostly used structural design software for Civil Engineer. A Civil Engineer who want to be a structural Engineer need to learn at least any one structural design software like Staad pro.

You can search online and also can be bought from Bentley. A free student version is also available on Bentley. You can also collect this software from here. What is this Tutorial for?
Structural design for high rise building is critical due to seismic load under heavy seismic zone. As per code requirement you have to consider seismic load depending on which seismic zone your project is. In this video tutorial I have shown a complete Structural analysis and design of ten storied steel Structure. This is a residential project. All types of load has been considered including seismic.
What software has been used?
There is lots software to do structural design across the world. Among them Staad pro V8i is one of the strongest software. To do any kind of complicated structure design both steel and concrete staad pro software can be used. Except that you can also do timber Structure design. In this particular project I have used Staad Pro V8i program.
What Design Code has been considered to design this project?
You will see lots code for Structural design across the world. Among them American Code, British code, Euro, Australian, Indian etc are remarkable. I have used here American code and UBC for lateral load calculation. You can use your local code following the procedure I have shown in the tutorial. Gravity load has been assigned as per code manually on the model and lateral load has been calculated on the excel spread sheet and assigned on the structure manually.
What would you learn after watching this tutorial?
Multistorey steel structure design is important for any Structural Engineer. Thinking about that I have designed a 10 storied steel structure with all required loading. Watching this tutorial you will be able to design a high rise steel building completely. All the possible steps have been described properly. By practicing this steps for few times you will be experienced on this type of project.

Till now Staad Pro V8i version. I have also used a V8i version here for this project. Through internet searching you might get a trial version. Check here for a student version.
